Property description:
The small apartment is on the ground floor of an antique town
house in the middle of the old town of Borgomaro. The apartment
has its own entrance, which is located directly in the
"caruggio" - a typical Ligurian alley.
A small entrance
area leads to the kitchen and living room. The living room leads
to the two bedrooms. The apartment does not have a bathroom, but
this can easily be installed. The rooms are exceptionally high,
with very well preserved vaulted ceilings, terracotta floors and
large windows, giving the rooms a grand appearance and being
very bright.
The view from the living room and kitchen
leads to another, picturesque "caruggio".
This property
is for everyone who loves and appreciates the charm of old
houses. The apartment needs to be renovated, but it would be
advisable not to destroy the ancient structures. Since only the
facade of the building is a listed building, changes to the
interior can be implemented without any problems. For example,
it would be perfectly possible to tear down some walls to create
a nice large bathroom or bedroom.
The property also
includes a so-called "cantina", a small and dry cellar in the
basement. This room can be used to store wood or pellets.
Equipment
The apartment has electricity, water - and sewage pipes. There
is a wood stove in the kitchen. A gas line can be laid without
any problems.
All floors are laid with beautiful antique
cotto tiles.
The monument protection only applies to the
facade. Changes can easily be made to the interior.
Optionally, olive groves in the neighboring valley can also be
purchased for the property.
Location
The town of Borgomaro is a small medieval Ligurian summerdream
with plenty of ancient houses which are standing in a labyrinth
of streets and paths. Everything is still very authentic and
good but fortunately no "open air museum".
The place is
located in Maro Valley, divided by the river Impero. The quite
large river is adorned with greenery and is winding elegantly
through the countryside, where it forms a rippling waterfall and
some romantic pools. In summertime you can go swimming here. It
is a welcome alternative to the beaches. The place is peaceful
and very down to earth. There are several small shops, a
pharmacy, a post office, a bar and various restaurants.
Recently, the very nice upper class hotel "Relais Maro" was
opened. Up to Imperia it is 15 km, the route runs partly on a
well-constructed expressway, so you can be on the beach quite
quickly.
