Liguria is a gourmet's paradise! This region offers two completely
different kitchens, the one of the coast and the mountainous country.
For both it is important to provide the light Ligurian wine, delicate
vegetables, fresh herbs and mild olive oil. In coastal areas you often
find fish and seafood on the table, in the hinterland, however, the
famous ravioli, pasta with pesto, beans, vegetables and meat.

In the Comune Vasia and the surrounding villages, the famous Taggiasca olives are grown. It is a particularly aromatic variety, which provides a very mild oil. The city Taggia has given its name to this variety which is only grown in a few valleys.
The fruits are small, the terrain steep and the harvest: hard manual work. Therefore the oil is not very cheap but of exceptional quality. Simply ask your landlords, many produce only for their personal use, however you should be able to buy a few litres.
You can eat very well and cheaply in the surrounding of your holiday home.
The small restaurants in the hinterland are recommended where you can try a typical Ligurian menu for about 25 - 30 € per person (including drinks).
These restaurants always work on the same principle: you have to reserve at least one day in advance (better earlier) and arrive exactly at the appointed time. Usually they start at about 20.00 o'clock. There is no menu, all guests receive the same menu, there are often up to 12 courses, it's always delicious.
There is always cooked just as much as there are reservations. In this way the food is always fresh and very good and the cost can be kept low.
Highly recommended, but always with
reservations:

In Imperia you will find in the two districts Porto
Maurizio and Oneglia good to very good restaurants, most
of them are situated in the two ports, so better stay
there.
At Porto Maurizio, it is worthwhile to
climb to the old town hill "Parasio", beside beautiful
romantic corners you can also find good authentic
trattorias and bars.
Throughout the whole summer,
different village parties take place in the hinterland,
mostly under a motto, like rabbit or ravioli party. In
our village there is usually Prelá Castle in July, a big
dinner on the piazza, where is cooked for almost 200
people. Simply pay attention to the coloured posters or
info sheets in the food stores..
